NETWORKING AND COLLABORATION

As one of her strongest points, HIMD collaborates and networks with other like-minded NGOs and CBOs (CSOs), HIMD believes that the constraints of her constituencies could hardly be tackled by HIMD alone. As a result, she tries to explore different Change Agents to complement her efforts, hence grasping the opportunities. HIMD is campaigning to end FGM in pastoral communities in Tanzania and Eastern Africa in General. Female genital mutilation (FGM), also known as female genital cutting and female circumcision, is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or another injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons”. The above map shows the % of girls and women aged 15-49 years who have undergone FGM/C.
